Synopsis for "Sometimes When We Touch..."
In the beginning of the issue, both Captain Atom and the Engineer are passionately kissing each other as they fly over Paris, France.
Moments ago, the Engineer sympathize with Atom for letting down his hopes in the Authority's help and being horrified with the way the team casually slaughter their enemies, and offers him a chance to see the world with her.
Meanwhile, Mister Majestic have travel all the way to the Carrier to speak with Jack Hawksmoor and the Doctor over the eventual destruction of their universe by Captain Atom, in which he surprisingly learn from Jack that he may have a solution.
Back on Earth, Atom and the Engineer travel to a Stalinist nation, and plans to stop it's dictator from unleashing nuclear Armageddon. Though Atom is initially unsure of having themselves involve, but is sway by the Engineer into unleashing his limits given the reason that from both his and this world, keeping the world safe has the same results despite differing "methods".
In New York City, both Cole Cash and Jeremy Stone tries to help Nikola Hanssen in concentrating to tap into the Void entity and connect with Captain Atom.
After the Engineer kills the dictator and retrieve his nuclear trigger, she let Atom into destroying the device and contacts to the Authority. In contact with Jack Hawksmoor, he orders Angie into executing their plan in helping Captain Atom of removing his threat to the universe by using her nanotechnology to disable the Void fragment, in which it seems to have work. However, in making sure that the crisis is over, the Doctor travels one year into the future in New York City and finds the world and the universe to be safely intact. Though everyone is relieve and overjoy, Majestic is unsure if they really prevent the cataclysm and hopes that what they done is over.
Having apparently end the cataclysm, both Atom and the Engineer fly and being to kiss each other not knowing that Jack Hawksmoor is watching them from the Carrier's monitor with great jealousy. After preventing a airliner from crashing and hearing the Engineer bluntly states of whether people are worth saving, Captain Atom decides himself to be away.
Back in New York City, Cash learns from Jeremy that according to the readings from his computer it is informed that early on the Void entity have split into both Nikola and Captain Atom, and that Atom contains more power of the Void than Nikola. Furthermore, Jeremy gravely explain to Cole that both Nikola and Captain Atom must never come close together fearing that the eventual cataclysm would still happen. However, Cole then notice that Nikola is gone.
Nikola has travel to the rubble site the apartment building where Captain Atom crashed into via using her powers. Nikola laments in acquiring her powers and is then met by Captain Atom. He assure her of her difficulties of being not too dissimilar from each other given that they were once normal human-beings and believe that they are still are, and explain that he himself felt compel to come to the place where he and Nikola obtain their new-found powers. As Captain Atom put his hand on Nikola's shoulder for sympathy, she suddenly emanate a strong explosive energy blowing Captain Atom into unconsciousness, and transforming herself into the Void.
