Category:Asphyxiation
From DC Database
Asphyxiation is a condition of severely deficient supply of oxygen to the body that arises from being unable to breathe normally. An example of asphyxia is choking. Asphyxia causes generalized hypoxia, which primarily affects the tissues and organs. Although this is a weakness that all living creatures are heir to, it is particularly promiment amongst Atlanteans who must remain submerged in water for optimal respiration. Atlanteans can only exist outside of water less than two hours before they begin to dehydrate, asphyxiate, and ultimately die.
