Deflection enables an individual to repel approaching objects from striking their body. In most cases, this is done by generating an invisible electromagnetic field around the person in question. Most characters with Super-Speed possess this ability, as it allows them to travel at heightened velocities without risk of extraneous debris interfering with their action (this is why the Flash can routinely run at faster than light speeds without catching bugs in his teeth). This power can also be produced artificially and was first implemented in 1940 when inventor Jim Barr created his cone-shaped Gravity Regulator Helmet. In functionality, Deflection works similarly to the Force Field power.
