Category talk:Omnipotence

Nigh?

I'm requesting that this category be moved to "Nigh Omnipotence" for two reasons. One, we clearly can't have multiple omnipotent characters. Two, omnipotence can't happen. It's a logical paradox. And I know many of the events of the DCU are highly improbable, but omnipotence is a little bit more complicated of a philosophical concept.

You mean, can Roygbiv666 make a rock so heavy he can't lift it? Yes, I can, and I can also lift it and there's no paradox. Why, because I'm M-F'n omnipotent, bi-otch! Bur seriously, aren't we splitting hairs here? I mean, most people would take it as "all-powerful" as ... pretty much anything one could imagine this character doing, they could do. Do we then reserve "omnipotence" for only, say, fictional characters? Wait.

Fair enough. I'm sorry, this is just what philosophy class does to you. I had to teach an entire philosophy class at my camp this summer for a week, and we get to talking about paradoxes a lot. Also, I just finished watching Season 1 of The Tick. Who has nigh invulnerability as his official power. Also, I'm a stickler. Anyway, I just thought "Nigh Omnipotence" would be a slightly handier name. I mean, even Imperiex-Prime cannot make a taco so hot that he himself cannot eat it.

I was going to suggest stealing from the MDP, but they don't seem to have anything comparable. Losers. So, would the Category of Omnipotence just not exist, then?

How about Category:Nigh Omnipotence?
