Synopsis for "Broken Spirits"

At a planned city in the American Southwest, over a dozen residents have been haunted by visions of ghosts. The Challengers of the Unknown have been called in to investigate and in their hotel room, Brenda is ambushed by a vision of her dead sister Eileen. She explains to her teammates how her reckless driving killed her sister years prior.

Kenn looks for clues tying ghost appearances to the cycles of the moon and Clay theorizes that the apparitions may be related to an experimental alloy used in all of the buildings. As they discuss their leads in a diner, another ghost materializes and haunts their waitress. A rapid snowstorm grips the town and Brenda rushes to her scientific equipment, only to find that Mr. Hershey is destroying it in a fit of guilt and madness.

She theorizes that the consciousness of their dead loved ones lives on in subatomic vibrations that are amplified by guilt. The alloy of the buildings created a large resonance field that manifests the ghosts and Brenda attempts to counteract it by setting up a field to disrupt it. It succeeds but also turns the tower she is in to rubble. Somehow, she survives and records the event in her diary before seeing one last vision of Eileen.
