HistoryEdit

What first put Charles English on the path of villainy is unknown. It may relate to a family legend which says that the Englishes were descended from King Arthur himself. Whatever the circumstances, English became the Pearly King of Crime. He had a feud with King Coal, a Newcastle para-crime figure, and was ultimately captured and imprisoned in Basement 101. He remained aware of his family's activities, and his son, Eddie, became the Pearly Prince.

At some point, the Pearly King of Crime was visited by Batman after the feud between the Coals and the Pearly court escalated to a dirty bomb in the center of London.

NotesEdit

• Although nothing has been shown of English's home life, his creator, Grant Morrison, has stated that he imagines that the Pearly King has a wife and a number of daughters.
