Niles Caulder is a brilliant scientist and leader of the Doom Patrol, organizing the original team with Elasti-Girl, Negative Man and Robotman. Paralyzed at the waist down by an injury caused by General Immortus, he is confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. Caulder is a manipulative and borderline sociopathic leader, willing to use or sacrifice anyone in his way towards making the world a better place without a moment's hesitation. He was formerly married to Celsius before her death. The Chief was created by Arnold Drake, Bob Haney and Bruno Premiani, first appearing in My Greatest Adventure #80. (1963)
