History

Spinning out of several converging plot-lines, Convergence is an event in which elements from throughout the DC Universe come together to answer the question: Where do worlds go when they die? When Brainiac gains access to Vanishing Point, he gains the ability to look back into the histories of worlds long deceased, including all of those that were ever erased or rewritten by some kind of Crisis. He collects cities from many of those worlds, and houses them on a planet on the edge of the multiverse, outside The Bleed. Distracted by another concern, Brainiac abandons the cities to be cared for by the planet itself, which is a sentient being called Telos. As he is programmed to do, Telos forces the cities the planet's surface to choose champions who will fight to the death for their own city's survival. Only one will be allowed to remain.

Notes

Trivia

  • This is the first DC event to include characters from realities that debuted in media adaptations, including characters and locations from the DCAU and Injustice: Gods Among Us.
  • According to Jeff King "Post-Convergence, every character that ever existed, in either Continuity or Canon, is now available to us as storytellers." [1]. This means that characters and worlds from the Pre-Crisis, 52 and post-Flash: Flashpoint multiverses all exist.
