The Copperhead was an enemy of Little Boy Blue and the Blue Boys.

History

The Copperhead was the leader of a gang of crooks who wanted to not only commit robberies in Big City but also humiliate its police force, especially the town's famed district attorney, Dan Rogers. To do so, Copperhead's gang infiltrated a country club's special dinner for Rogers while posing as the band; thus positioned, they committed one or more sleight-of-hand robberies of the attendees then waited when the police were called to investigate. When the police arrived, they revealed their hidden arsenal of machine guns, threatening to massacre the guests if the police did not stand back as they continued robbing the guests. Introducing himself, the Copperhead explained to Rogers his personal wish to make the authorities feel helpless against him.

Fortunately, the preparations for the hostage situation had been witnessed by schoolboy Toughy, who alerted his friends Tubby and Tommy, who was the D.A.'s son. Switching into their costumes of the Blue Boys, the trio surprised the Copperhead and his men, removing their guns and allowing the police to take charge again. Grabbing a hold of Little Boy Blue, the Copperhead held them off for a moment until he could jump through a window and escape in his getaway car. Although he swore to get even, the Copperhead was never seen in Big City again.

• Music: The Copperhead had some musical training, enough to impersonate a band director.

• He claimed to possess super-intelligence but showed no real signs of extraordinary scientific skill or enhanced mental processes.

• He was vain, bragging that he possessed super-intelligence when he showed moderate planning ability.

Notes

• This version of Copperhead, including all history and corresponding appearances, was erased from existence following the collapse of the original Multiverse in the 1985–86 Crisis on Infinite Earths event and later restored following the rebirth of the infinite Multiverse during the Dark Crisis of 2022-2023. Even though other versions of the character may have appeared, this information does not apply to those versions.
