Flessel was born in Huntington, Long Island, New York and he was the minor of three siblings. Flessel graduated high school in 1930 and then attended Grand Central Art School, at Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan. Flessel married a woman named Marie and in 2000 they moved from the East Coast to Mill Valley, California. They had a son and a daughter.
On July 17, 2008, Flessel suffered a stroke and died shortly afterward, at his home.
Creig Flessel was an American comic book artist and professional illustrator. He started working for DC Comics in 1937 on the title Detective Comics and later he worked on several other titles including New Adventure Comics, More Fun Comics, All-Star Comics, Adventure Comics, Superboy, House of Mystery and many more.
