The Crime Doctor is a medical expert who caters exclusively to criminals, originally an enemy of Batman. Bradford Thorne began his career setting up an illegal clinic for injured gangsters, although he later expanded his enterprise to become a super-villain specializing in torture. His brother is crimelord Rupert Thorne. He is a member of the Secret Society of Super-Villains, in charge of torturing and interrogating their prisoners. Following his death, his successor is Anica Balcescu. The Crime Doctor was created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane, first appearing in Detective Comics #77. (1943)
