Alexander Tuttle was the Crumbler, a minor villain who battled Green Lantern, Green Arrow and Black Canary.

As a child, Alexander Percy Tuttle was very intelligent and had a knack for science. His father, Morris Tuttle, was a businessman and saw science as something useless; he was interested in making money. The young Alexander was forbidden by his father to continue his experiments and was forced to work on his construction company, but continued with his experiments in secret. Due to constant abuse from his father, Alexander Tuttle became mentally unbalanced. On one bad day in particular, he stole money from his father's company and used it to build a glove which could disrupt atoms, and he used that power to cause disasters in his own property to get the insurance money and recover what he stole from his company. He crossed paths with Green Lantern, Green Arrow, and Black Canary. He managed to incapacitate all three of them on different occasions, but Green Lantern, despite his weakened state, managed to stop him from bringing a building and all its three hundred occupants down.[1]

Crumbler was sent to Arkham Asylum, but Professor Ojo released him.[2] Together, they planned a terrorist attack on a nuclear plant, built by Tuttle's father, Morris Tuttle. Crumbler also attempted to kill his father shortly before the attack, but both assaults were averted by Green Lantern and Green Arrow.[3]
