History

This mystical crystal ball once belonged to a sorcerer known as Merlin. Whether this version of Merlin is the same Earth-bound mage that once fathered Etrigan the Demon is unknown. The ball was first used when Merlin's native dimension "Magic-Land" was spatially transposed with that of Earth-One. The Justice League of America aided Merlin in fighting against an evil sorcerer and at the end of the adventure Merlin let them keep the magic ball. The crystal ball was housed within the tropy room at the JLA's Secret Sanctuary. A short time later, the League used the ball to communicate across dimensions. They contacted members of the Justice Society of America from Earth-Two who in turn aided them in their struggle against the Crime Champions.

Notes

  • This version of Crystal Ball of Merlin, including all history and corresponding appearances, was erased from existence following the collapse of the Multiverse in the 1985-86 Crisis on Infinite Earths limited series and is now considered apocryphal.
