HistoryEdit

Raised Catholic in a Navy family, Dana Scully studied physics as an undergraduate before attending medical school, where she was recruited by the FBI. Eager to distinguish herself, she ended up drawing an assignment that would stymie her ambitions at the FBI-partnering with Fox Mulder with the assigned secret intent of debunking him and his work on the X-Files, which was considered a potential source of embarrassment to the Bureau. Far from debunking Mulder, Scully ended up strengthening his work. Scully's scientific mind and relentless intellect quickly became indispensable to him.

Dana Scully is based upon an original character created by Chris Carter, writer and director of the popular television series The X-Files. The role of Scully was played by actor Gillian Anderson.
