Darkstars #3 is an issue of the series Darkstars (Volume 1) with a cover date of December, 1992.

Synopsis for "A Little Help from My Friends"

Following their success stoping the "Loco" drug ring, Darkstar Colos explains to his companions, Flint and Mo Douglas, what is being a Darkstar about. He mentions that their creators, the Controllers, had a utopia, but they decided to have a more active role in dealing with the problems popping out in the universe. And thus they formed the Darkstars, "agents who would give their lives, if need be." Colos claims that he joined for what good he could accomplish. After telling his story, Colos recruits both of them as his deputies and hands them "toned-down" versions of his Exo-Mantle.

Suddenly, Prigatz calls in and gives Colos a new assignment. Prisoner G-111, code-named Evil Star, escaped from the Erral Rehab facility and is headed toward Earth. Prigatz explains that the prisoner was in a program that helped him renounce his former evil identity, but his Starlings attacked the facility and freed him. Fleeing from his former henchmen, Prisoner G-111 called the Darkstars for help, but the Starlings destroyed their NEMO Vessel.

Meanwhile, following the sudden revelation of Frank Pappas as a drug lord, Carla White quits her law firm, disappointed that her father appointed her to defend "scum" like Mr. Pappas. Coincidentially, Pappas calls to the firm to hire Carla again, but she replies him to "drop dead," and leaves the phone hanging.

Colos trains his deputies to fly with their new suits when the Starlings appear in the sky. The invaders attack them, and the Darkstars fend them off. Flint strikes them head-on, leaving him open for retaliation. Colos saves Flint before he hit the floor, allowing the Starlings to escape. At a distance, Evil Star dons his outfit and Star-Band, and his evil personality takes over again.
