This is an in-universe article with out-of-universe material.
This article covers information about something that exists within the DC Universe, and should not contain out-of-universe material. Please remove all out-of-universe material, or include it in a separate section at the bottom of the article. And take off that silly costume.

The man who would become the killer known as Deadline, began his life as a freelance assassin to criminal families in America.

When the Dominators set loose their Gene-bomb on Earth, Deadline's metagene was activated, and gave him increased skills and reflexes, and the power to pass through the material. Equipped with high-tech gear, he became one of the nation's leading assassins.

He first appears as a mercenary with a contract on Starman in his career in Las Vegas, causing a great deal of damage to the Las Vegas strip and suffered a radiation burn on his left hand due to this battle with Starman. This fuels Deadline's hatred for Starman and leads them to clash many times after. He is mentioned to be one of the best and highest paid super-mercenaries, along with Bolt. Other stories suggest that while Deadline is a master of what he does, he is not as highly regarded as, for example, Deathstroke or Deadshot.

Suicide Squad

He reappears as part of a more villainous version of the Suicide Squad propping up the dictatorship in the Bermuda Triangle island of Diablo verde. His team is shown terrorizing civilians for fun. Amanda Waller and her Squad take out him and his colleagues while attempting to remove the dictator.

Underworld Unleashed

During "Underworld Unleashed", Deadline meets fellow mercenaries Deadshot, Bolt, Merlyn, and Chiller, and forms the Killer Elite, a supergroup of assassins. He is then hired by King Theisley of Poseidonis to assassinate Aquaman, during the battle he manages to get Aquaman out of the ocean and into the sky, where Deadline has the advantage. But still he fails to kill him. He is also hired to kill Steel at one point but fails that as well.

In Aquaman #9 where he is hired by King Thesiley of Poseidonis to assassinate Aquaman. Despite managing to get Aquaman out of the seas and into the sky, he fails to kill him. He also attempts to kill Steel at one point but fails that as well.

Joker's Last Laugh

While attempting to aid in an escape from Iron Heights with cohorts Deadshot and Merlyn, a jokerized Deadline is shot and apparently killed by Warden Wolfe. But because he was Jokerized at the time the chemical had healing properties and Deadline slowly recovered, only to be gravely injured once again when he and several other assassins stupidly went gunning for his former Killer Elite teammate Deadshot.

  • Armored Suit: Deadline wears armor that protects against physical and energy attacks, armor contains several covers and pouches for storage.

  • Aero Discs: Anti-gravitational disks for the use of personal flight.

  • Rifle: A customized rifle capable of firing bullets designed to harm superhuman targets.
