Synopsis for "Immortal Enemy!"
The Demon senses an evil disturbance in Gotham City and leaps across rooftops until he discovers Kafir, the Horned One. Etrigan wonders who could have the power to summon the demon before trying to send the beast back to the Pit. Kafir is no easy opponent, casting the "clinging cloud" to engulf Etrigan's head, rendering him unconscious as Kafir's mistress reveals herself as none other than Morgaine le Fey! The sorceress stays Kafir's hand, as she requires Etrigan's help acquiring a certain magical item. Bound physically and magically, Etrigan is at the mercy of his old enemy as she orders one of her slaves to brand the Demon with her mystical mark, allowing the diabolical witch to force him to do her bidding.
Across town, Glenda Mark is still intrigued by the Philosopher's Stone that she found in her apartment. As she ponders its occult connection to Jason Blood, her furniture suddenly begins to levitate. Amazed, Glenda experiments to see if the stone was reacting to her thoughts by willing an armchair to transmute into flowers. She spins around in fright as a strange, old man announces himself. The intruder introduces himself as, Warly, asking if he may touch the stone. Glenda refuses and demands to know why he's in her home. Warly simply explains that he's an emissary and insists she follow him to meet with Jason.
In Morgaine's lair, the witch tortures Etrigan into submission with her scalding mark, and forces him to battle the "Smasher" for her amusement. Warly arrives with Glenda as the gladiator brutalises the Demon who is unable to defend himself at his mistress' command. Glenda rebukes her hostess for such deplorable cruelty and asks to see Jason. Morgaine directs her to the pitiful Demon and recites the incantation to revert the creature back to mortal form. Glenda watches incredulously, unable to understand how it is possible, yet still willing to help her friend in any way. Jason sees the stone in her hand and warns her never to relinquish it to Morgaine, regardless of his suffering. The mark on Jason's forehead burns to silence him and Morgaine attempts to wrest the stone from Glenda, but Jason's friend fights back, threatening the sorceress with the very stone she covets. Fearful of the stone's power, Morgaine recoils, sapping Jason of life to persuade Glenda to back off. Distracted by Jason's agony, Glenda has the stone snatched from her hand by Warly. The old man laughs malevolently as he feels the power in his hands. Morgaine congratulates her devotee, but Warly turns the stone on his mistress. Furious, Morgaine gestures at the door behind the traitor to summon an evil host, but Warly is not afraid and transforms the witch into a sarcophagus. The mark disappears from Jason's forehead and Warly, drunk with power, fails to see the many ghastly tentacles reaching out to claim him. In his panic, Warly summons a magical nether-flame, an eldritch fire that enslaves the souls it consumes. Realising Morgaine's sigil is gone, Jason casts a spell allowing him to pass through the fire. Glenda witnesses a supernatural blast which is followed by deathly silence. With the fire gone, she runs to find Jason slumped against a wall beside the stone. Managing to remove all traces of Morgaine's presence from the building, Jason turns to Glenda and confirms that he and the Demon are indeed one.
