Derrick Coe was the third person to take on the Black Spider mantle .

History

After Johnny LaMonica's death, Coe took on the mantle of the Black Spider and joined the Society. Ironically enough, the group was also joined by the very first Black Spider, the presumed dead Eric Needham . Coe and fellow Society member Hellhound were sent by Calculator to abduct and torture Savant as a means to get to Oracle. Eventually, the Birds of Prey ran to Savant's aid, and the latter violently smashed Coe out of a window in retaliation. He survived the fall and was hospitalized after he was rescued by the Birds themselves.

After the events of Infinite Crisis, Coe joined the Injustice League in their attack on Green Arrow and Black Canary's wedding, and was consequently taken into custody by the Suicide Squad. The Squad sent him to the Hell Planet, where he chose Lex Luthor's side. During the Battle for the Cowl, Coe was defeated by Manhunter.
