Synopsis for Batman: "The True Story of Frankenstein"

Profesor Carter Nichols travels in time to learn the truth about the legend of Frankenstein. In the 19th Century, Nichols learns that Baron Frankenstein has a giant servant by the name of Ivan, who is shocked by an electric generator and becomes a mindless creature after he is revived with adrenaline. Frankenstein's cousin, Count Mettern uses the mindless Ivan to try to kill the Baron and get his wealth. However, the mindless giant fails and Nichols decides to summon Batman and Robin to help stop the man.

Ivan walks out of Frankenstein's castle and terrorizes the village nearby with his monstrous appearance. Batman and Robin track the "monster" to Count Mettern's castle, where they are captured and Batman is knocked unconscious. Using the same adrenaline that Nichols used to revive Ivan, Mettern revives Batman, who also becomes a mindless creature and obeys Mettern's commands. Batman goes on to terrorize the townsfolk and Ivan is sent back to the Baron's castle to kill his master. When Ivan arrives at the castle, Batman is already waiting for him and he manages to stun the giant with a second electric shock. This time, Nichols uses enough adrenaline to revive both Ivan's mind and body.

The people from the village gather together to kill the monsters created by Frankenstein and they are all led by Count Mettern. Ivan, who is now conscious again, remembers everything that happened and goes out to confront the crowd. Ivan takes Mettern with him and they go into Frankenstein's chemical laboratory. The giant servant warns the people to evacuate the castle before a big explosion destroys the entire place, killing both Mettern and Ivan. Batman and Robin later tell the story to a lady called Mary Shelley, who in turn decides to change the story into a fictional tale. Back in the present, the Dynamic Duo and Nichols realize that they are the only people alive that know the true story of Frankenstein.

Trivia

Despite its "secret history" premise, "The True Story of Frankenstein" is dependent on the 1931 Frankenstein film and its sequels, and bears no resemblance to the original Mary Shelley novel.
