- There seems to be a rumor that the real Batman is dead and that you are only a robot!
Detective Comics #224 is an issue of the series Detective Comics (Volume 1) with a cover date of October, 1955.
Synopsis for Batman: "The Batman Machine"
While Batman and Robin are testing the new Batplane rockets they come across some crooks stealing from an explosive factory, and try to capture them without success. During the struggle, one of the criminals managed to tear a small part of the Batsuit, revealing a metallic part underneath. The crooks instantly assume that Batman is a machine, since a few nights ago, some crooks managed to kill Batman or so they believe. In the Bat-Cave soon after it is revealed that the metallic substance underneath Batman's suit was reinforced armor to protect his organs during the Batplane test.
When the rumor spreads about Batman being a robot, Batman decides to use the hoax to his advantage and he creates an animatronic man and dresses it in the Batsuit. Using a remote control, Robin is able to manipulate the robot's actions and they use the machine to lure some criminals into a trap. When the crooks think that they managed to get control of the Batman machine, they send it to commit crimes, but the machine refuses and instead, forces the crooks to surrender. Batman then steps out of the robotic shell and reveals that the machine was just a way to capture them.

Notes
- This issue of Detective Comics is considered by some comic indexers to be the last issue to regularly feature the Batman of Earth-Two. Other indexers place the dividing line between Earth-Two and Earth-One elsewhere (for example, Mike of Mike's Amazing World places it between Detective Comics #202 and Detective Comics #203). The DC Comics Database has decided to go with the former group.
