Synopsis for "The Hermit of Mystery Island"

On a supposedly deserted island, Batman, Robin, and four gang-bosses encounter a strange hermit who predicts dire fates for all the crooks and Batman, which seem to come true. The criminals start dying one by one, and all of them almost meet their doom as the hermit predicted. Batman decides to go back to the island to investigate before the prediction of his own demise comes true and he finds the truth about the hermit. The old man was in fact a crook working for one of the criminals, who faked his own death and arranged the accidents of his other fellow criminals in order to rule supreme in the Gotham underworld. After the revelation, Batman and Robin capture Nails Lewin and his henchmen Hawk, ending the curse of the hermit and sending them to prison.

The Human Flame’s fire-throwing does prove to be a problem to J’onn J’onzz, until the Martian tunnels underneath the Flame and his henchman, lifts the entire piece of land they stand on into the air, and takes them to the police. The henchman, Joey, is convinced that fire cannot be the Manhunter’s weakness.
