Synopsis for Batman: "The Perils of Sergius"

The Sensei marks a writer named Sergius for death when he thinks Sergius has stumbled onto his plan, and contracts the work out to one Ma Murder. The same writer has been trying to contact Batman to write his next novel, but the Dark Knight focus his attention on capturing Ma Murder and her gang.

On his investigations, Batman stumbles upon Ma Murder's plan to murder Sergius and he saves the writer on two occasions. After two failed attempts, Ma Murder decides to deal with the writer by herself and she prepares a trap on the man's apartment, where he would be drowned to death. However, Sergius was earlier visited by Matches Malone and when the death trap is set in motion, Malone turns into Batman and saves the writer.

When Batman takes Sergius out of danger, he confronts Ma Murder and a couple of members of the League of Assassins, who were there to make sure Ma Murder succeeds. After Batman defeats all the crooks, he gives Sergius the chance he has been expecting: an interview with Batman.
