Synopsis for Batman: "A Gentleman in Gotham"

A man called Mr. Baffle is condemned to die somewhere in Europe. However, after the execution, it is revealed that he had paid the guards to use blanks instead of real bullets and he gets on his way out of Europe. Travelling all the way across the Atlantic Ocean, he reaches Gotham City and he is fascinated by the glamour and the lifestyle. During his city sightseeing, a couple of thieves try to steal from him, but when they realize that he has no money, Baffle offers them to join the gang as their leader. Using his remarkable intelligence, Baffle comes up with a plan to steal from Gotham's wealthiest citizens, starting with Bruce Wayne.

That night, Baffle breaks into Wayne Manor while the couple of thieves stand guard outside. At that moment, Batman and Robin arrive at the barn where they keep their vehicles, and they get on their way to Wayne Manor via the underground tunnel until they reach home. They are shocked to find Baffle inside trying to open the safe and a fight begins. Robin is knocked unconscious and Batman keeps an even fight with the daring thief until Baffle manages to escape.

After the incident, Baffle shaves his goatee to avoid recognition and soon he finds a job at a newspaper, as a celebrity reporter, which allows him to get into rich people's homes and learn the layouts of the places, which was useful later, when he and his gang stole from the places. During a party by one of the wealthiest women in Gotham, Bruce attends with Linda Page, but he is bored after a while and calls Robin to start working. Soon, they find Baffle and his men trying to steal from the safe and they stop them once more. However, Baffle gets away with some jewels and Batman chases him. Baffle throws the jewels away, forcing Batman to stop and recover them, giving Baffle the chance to escape.

Baffle becomes aware that Batman is a great opponent and he decides to leave Gotham after one last heist. Meanwhile, Bruce recognizes that the celebrity reporter and the criminal are the same person and he goes to another party, one that Linda Page is expected to attend. In the party, Baffle convinces the people that he is Batman, but when Linda arrives at the party, she reveals the truth that he couldn't possibly be Batman. Baffle and his thugs take Linda away from the crowd, but at that moment, Batman and Robin arrive at the place and they realize Linda is in danger. Batman confronts Baffle, who in turn challenges Batman to a sword fight. When Batman trips and falls, Baffle stops and allows Batman to recover and the fight continues. Batman manages to disarm Baffle and, throwing away his sword, Batman starts fighting Baffle with his bare hands. When Baffle finds himself cornered, he decides to leap off the building to a river below, with the promise of a return.
