Synopsis for Batman: "The Joker Walks the Last Mile"

The Joker decides to surrender himself to the Gotham City Police Department and confesses all his past crimes. The list is too long and the penalty for him is death. Sentenced to die in the electric chair, Joker complies and soon he is officially declared dead. However, this was all just a ruse and soon, the Joker is taken out of the morgue by some of his henchmen and revived with a special serum.

The Joker is now free to roam the streets once again without fear of being taken to jail, since he was already executed for all his crimes. Bruce Wayne and Robin are baffled to see the Joker walking the streets of Gotham as a normal citizen, but they both suspect that there's something wrong. They decide to keep an eye on Joker's activities, but he barely leaves his hotel room. Unknown to the dynamic duo, Joker has been sending messages to his henchmen using the hotel's light signal and soon, he arranges a great scheme at the skating rink. Bruce and Dick decide to take a break and they also go to the ice rink, where the witness how some thugs break inside the place and start robbing people of their goods. After a quick change of clothes, Batman and Robin appear on the scene and they start taking down the criminals with some great ice skating skills. However, one of the thugs turns off the lights and they manage to escape the place with the stolen goods.

After the incident, the victims of the robbery start placing their respective claims to the ice rink manager, who promises to give them back their stolen stuff. Among the crowd is the Joker, who tells the manager that the criminals stole a gold watch from him. Batman suspects that Joker is somehow involved in the whole scheme and in order to find out, Batman and Robin follow Joker back to the hotel, where they finally realize Joker's method of communication. Batman and Robin try to get inside Joker's room, but they are tricked into breaking inside, while a couple of police officers where inside the room. Joker had tried to frame the duo for breaking into his place, but then, Batman asks Joker for time and the criminal pulls out the gold watch that was supposedly stolen. Once his scheme is discovered, Joker jumps out of the room and hijacks an army vehicle. Batman and Robin follow him on the Batmobile, and soon Batman switches to the Batplane. Using his aerial advantage, Batman pulls Joker off the road and the mad man falls to the cliff at the edge of the road and a few moments later, he drops to the ocean below.

Batman and Robin think that this might be the Joker's end, but merely a week later, Joker is back in his hideout, planning his next move.
