Synopsis for Batman: "The Harlequin's Hoax"

The Joker sets his next scheme in motion by sending incomplete and apparently useless gifts to a few selected people in Gotham City.

Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne and Linda Page are on a date at the amusement park. While they are riding the parachute jump, the ride breaks and they are stuck in the middle of the air without a chance of leaving. Suddenly, the Bat-Signal appears in the sky and Bruce is forced to pretend an accidental fall from the ride in order to answer the summons. Moments later at the GCPD Headquarters, Commissioner Gordon informs Batman about the recent gifts from Joker. At that moment, the Joker and his gang strike, and rob a place without any effort.

The next day, Bruce learns that the place Joker stole from belongs to one of the people who received the gifts. Using his deductive skills, Bruce informs Dick Grayson of their plan to capture the Joker. That night, when Joker strikes, at the place of the second man who received a gift, Batman and Robin are waiting for him inside and they manage to capture the Joker easily. However, on their way to the police, Joker manages to free himself and gets away from the dynamic duo.

Batman then pays a visit to the remaining Joker gift recipients and he behaves in a weird way, much to Robin's surprise. The reason why Batman started acting weird is because he was trying to find a connection between the people and the gifts given. In the end, Batman realizes that the incomplete gifts resemble the people in the fact that the people are also missing parts of their bodies. One of them tells Batman that they all lost their body parts during an accident years prior, where a couple of men died and the rest were blamed for their deaths. The Joker's gifts are the criminal's way of blackmailing them with the past tragedy. At that moment, Joker arrives and places Batman, Robin and the third man in a trap with a bomb. When the Joker leaves, the man manages to throw the bomb out through the window, and the explosion sets them all free without harm.

Batman and Robin chase the Joker and his gang to a plane factory, where they manage to capture every member of Joker's gang. However, after a lengthy chase, the Joker himself gets aboard one of the planes and rides away from the place, avoiding once again being captured by Batman and Robin.
