Notes

  • Although this character was originally introduced during DC's Earth-Two era of publication, their existence following the events of the 1985-86 limited series Crisis on Infinite Earths remains intact. However, some elements of the character's Pre-Crisis history may have been altered or removed for Post-Crisis New Earth continuity, and should be considered apocryphal.
  • Although Dian and Wes Dodds have been lifelong companions, they have never been married.
  • Occasionally, Dian's name is mis-spelled as Diane.

Trivia

  • Dian designed the purple and yellow costume that the Sandman wore during his tenure as a member of the All-Star Squadron. Fellow All-Star Jonathan Law - the Tarantula was so impressed by the outfit, that he later refashioned his own costume based on Dian's designs (Originally Law changed his costume out of respect for Dian's memory, when he had erroneously believed that she had been killed in an automobile explosion).
  • Jack Knight (also known as Starman) once traveled to the Dodds estate to meet his lifelong hero. Surprisingly, the person he was there to meet was not retired Sandman, Wesley Dodds, but rather his lifelong companion, Dian.
