Dinah was a member of the Justice League but did not continue her membership with the League following the destruction of Metropolis and Superman's transformation of the League into a police force. When the President of the United States asked Batman to stop Superman's Regime, he obliged and was given Black Canary's name, along with those of other people who had not aligned with Superman. Catwoman found her and recruited her to the Insurgency's cause.
Black Canary helped repel Parademons from Apokolips when they invaded all major cities on Earth. When it seemed like she and Oliver would die, Superman swooped in and vaporized all the Parademons around them. After the League revealed Batman's identity to the world and the apparent murder of Martian Manhunter, she became part of a strike team to acquire one of the Super-Pills in the Fortress of Solitude. In the ensuing confrontation with Superman, both Captain Atom and her husband died.
She is later seen at the funeral for Oliver, and uses her Canary Call on Superman when the Kryptonian tells her that they need to talk. He begins to choke her, but realizes what he's doing and backs off. Superman reveals that Dinah is pregnant, and that she is "fighting for two" now. As Superman flies away, Oracle is heard talking to Dinah over an earpiece. Dinah later appears in Oracle's secret base, listening to her conversation with the President of the USA.

"I'd have loved to kick back and savor kicking Brainiac's ass, but I had to rush home. I didn't know if Connor had made it out of the invasion okay. Turns out, I didn't need to worry. The crazy stress of Brainiac's attack activated my son's meta-gene. And if there's one thing you don't want to mess with, it's a scared, pissed-off three year-old with superpowers. Sure, I love that Connor takes after me. But raising him suddenly got a lot more complicated. I'm just glad to have people around that can help me and Ollie figure this whole thing out..."
- Canary Cry: Dinah possesses a metagene that gives her a potent sonic attack, able to damage and stun foes or objects, to the point of shattering metal. She possesses a incredible degree of control over her vocal cords. This enables her to mimic sounds and generate any sound she desires, even developing several abilities. The Canary Cry has been able to reach 300 decibels, which is enough to make a person's ears start bleeding even if they're not the attack target.
