Doctor Polaris is the master of magnetism. Mentally disturbed scientist Neal Emerson gained incredible powers by exposing himself repeatedly to intense magnetic fields, and developed a criminal persona. These abilities make him one of the greatest enemies of Green Lantern. He has also been a member of the Secret Society of Super-Villains and Cadre. During Infinite Crisis he was killed by Human Bomb. His post-mortem successor is John Nichol, originally a businessman inspired by the original. Nichol was also a prominent member of the criminal organization Intergang. He was killed during the Blackest Night by the Black Lantern Neal Emerson. Doctor Polaris was created by John Broome and Gil Kane, first appearing in Green Lantern #21. (1963)
