Doll Man #35 is an issue of the series Doll Man (Volume 1) with a cover date of August, 1951.

Synopsis for "The Prophet of Doom"

Darrel Dane's office-neighbor, struggling scientist Hector Halley, is bullied by his high-maintenance girlfriend Nita into attempting some conventional and unconventional crimes. He first tries to blowtorch his way into the Research Foundation's safe, but is interrupted by Doll Man, who knocks him out but doesn't turn him in. Darrel Dane and Doll Man are both assisted in their work by Elmo, a very large, smart dog.

Weeks go by, then in the nearby town of Barville, a bearded man in robes shows up and claims to be a well-known prophet with a track record of accurate predictions. He warns the townspeople that a meteorite will strike the town that very night, and just on this one guy's say-so, almost all of them immediately pile their families into their vehicles and flee, without even locking up their houses and stores. That night a big rock, rigged with dynamite charges, is dropped into the town from a helicopter, simulating a meteorite strike, and even momentarily fooling Doll Man. Then the helicopter lands and the Prophet of Doom disembarks, and starts breaking into houses and stealing stuff. Doll Man and Elmo take him down, Nita the ex-mob-moll girlfriend shows up, briefly packing a pistol but quickly disarmed, and the Prophet turns out to be Hector Halley, who now is busted.
