Eobard Thawne is Professor Zoom, more commonly referred to as the Reverse-Flash.

Before Metropolis

In the distant future, a scientist named Eobard Thawne researched the historical hero known as the Flash and decided to become his greatest enemy. Gaining powers very similar to the Flash's, Thawne went back in time and killed Barry Allen's mother to begin his lifelong torment of the man whose life he planned to ruin.

Time travelling to some point before the Joker's attack on Superman, the Flash and the "Reverse-Flash" fought each other at least once before the Thawne retreated.

Brainiac's Attack

After Superman set up his new regime in an attempt to rid the world of crime, one of Eobard's essential ancestors was killed in the process, leaving him trapped in a paradox. Returning to a time years after Batman and the Insurgency had defeated the Regime, Thawne decided to make the most of being stuck in the past by continuing his torment of Barry Allen, fighting both the speedster and Wonder Woman as Brainiac's forces attacked. • Speed Force Conduit: People who, for whatever reason, are connected to the Speed Force are sometimes called Speed Force Conduits. This means that they are connected to the Speed Force and are tethered to it.[2]
    • Accelerated Healing: The Speed Force connection allows the speedster's body recover from injury much faster than normal.[citation needed]
    • Enhanced Senses: The Speed Force enhances the speedster's senses, allowing them to perceive the world at a rate attuned how fast they can react.[3]
    • Phasing: Speed Force conduits can tap into the Speed Force to vibrate their molecules in a way to achieve intangibility for short bursts, allowing them to phase through objects.[4]
    • Speed Force Aura: The Speed Force also manifests an aura around the speedster and whatever they are carrying, protecting them from adverse effects of their speed, such a friction with the air.[5]
      • Superhuman Durability: The Speed Force Aura also protects speedsters from kinetic impacts, which in turn, makes them much more durable and resistant to injury than any normal human.[6]
    • Superhuman Stamina: While not unlimited, the connection to the Speed Force does bolster the speedsters stamina well beyond the limits of a normal human.[3]
    • Superhuman Speed: The main effect of the connection is to allow a speedster to move at vast superhuman speeds[3]. This also confers:
    • Vortex Creations: Speed Force conduits are able to create vortices of air by running in circles or rotating their extremities at super-speed. These vortices can be used for a number of effects.[7]
  • Time Travel: Eobard Thawne can freely travel through time by running so quickly but, since he is now trapped in a paradox, he can't go back to his own time. [8]
