History

The Fatal Five was a super villain team of Earth-9 most infamously known for murdering the second generation hero, the Atom II, under the leadership of the Shadow Thief. The young son of that hero swore to capture the Fatal Five and bring them to justice. While hiding in New York City at a secret location, Atom took out the team and captured them all in one swoop except for their leader, Shadow Thief, who escaped with a stolen teleporter leaving his team behind to be captured.

Shadow Thief did not free his team and instead went back to trying to kill the newly debuted Atom. He was stopped after stealing nukes and firing them at the Atom and his grandfather, the original Atom (Arthur Thompson) and locked away leaving the Fatal Five incarcerated.
