Synopsis for Doll Man: "Destruction of the Doll Man"

Buckner Harrod, Actor/Manager/Swindler, gets out of prison surprisingly early, and within six weeks is ready to open a new production. Harrod also is publicly smearing Doll Man's reputation, claiming that he (Harrod) was framed, claiming also to have been threatened by Doll Man, and promising to "expose him for the dwarfed hypocrite he is." Intrigued by all this, Darrel and Martha attend that evening's performance of Harrod's play, "Field of Honor".

Backstage Harrod is guarded by a police Inspector and Mopkins, the actor's dresser, but he steps into another room, with only one door, and that's the last time he's seen alive. Shortly later his body is found, and not very long after that, Doll Man shows up in the dressing room to ask some questions, but just by being there he's already raising some questions. Doll Man also almost gives away a major clue to his secret identity, and shuts up just in time, but the Inspector is already getting suspicious. Doll Man splits, which also looks suspicious, but then he hangs around, hoping for a chance to eavesdrop, while the Inspector interviews the rest of the cast. He's spotted, and there's a chase, up a stairway, Doll Man throws a cat into one pursuer's face, then sprints away across the theater's roof, but steps in a spot of sticky tar and is caught. The Inspector snaps one handcuff around his waist and tells him he's under arrest; Doll Man goes along quietly.

They converse, and Doll Man points out that the tar on the roof should not be sticky, on a cool night, and also springs the latch on the handcuff, and runs away again. But he's right, the cops agree, and before very long they find a disused ventilator shaft, affording access into the closed room in which the victim was killed, by having a knife thrown into his back from above. The murderer turns out to be Mopkins, who tips his hand by trying to drop some sandbags onto Doll Man, thru the same opening. Two fights and one chase later, Mopkins has not only confessed but gloated about murdering Harrod, and is arrested by the Inspector and his cops.
