Synopsis for Doll Man: "The Black Atom"

In his tuxedo and top hat, the Black Atom crashes a party at Perry Van Rakish's country house, introduces himself, guns down Rakish, and steals his collection of expensive gems. One of Rakish's guests presses a hidden alarm buzzer; Black Atom shoots him dead, too, and leaves. On the grounds outside, four very unimpressive rent-a-cops manage to converge on the cold-blooded robber, guns drawn, but he has already tossed the sack of gems over a decorative brick wall. Whistling nonchalantly, the Atom vanishes, POPF, then his whistling is heard coming from the far side of the brick wall. The security force are stupefied and stymied.

The next day Martha Roberts and Darrel Dane read about this in the New York Evening Star, and can't figure out how the killer got away. Then Dane awkwardly excuses himself, leaves, shrinks, and sprints into action as the Doll Man.

Later that night in a secluded hideout, the Black Atom POPFs into the place, meets with three henchmen, gives them their orders, and POPFs back out. In one hour, they're going to rob the First Liberty Bank. Doll Man has been hiding in this room the whole time and watches these morons leave, but prefers to go directly to the bank.

At the bank, the hoods do a drive-by shooting to a squad of seven security cops, wounding or killing three of them, before Doll Man jumps into the car, and knocks each of the gangsters out. Then the Black Atom strolls onto the scene, introduces himself, declares his bad intentions, them vanishes with a POPF, reappears inside the bank, then confronts and defeats a rifle-wielding guard, using only his elegant walking-stick. Hearing the inside guard's yelp, the outside guards bumble with the key to let themselves in, while Doll Man scrambles in thru a window. He discovers and confronts Black Atom, some taunting takes place, then there's an exchange of good punching and bad shooting, in which Black Atom is knocked out. The bank cops scoop up Atom and load him into the car in which the henchman had arrived, but Doll Man steals the car and the prisoner! Doll Man needs to find out how Black Atom does his vanishing trick and understandably doesn't think the bank guards will be much help with this. But unbeknownst to Doll Man, the murderous Black Atom had earlier planted a bomb in his own henchmen's car, to ensure that none of them survived until loot-splitting time. Doll Man barely leaps to safety after the bomb explodes causing the car to catch fire and run off a cliff to a fiery crash on the ground below. Doll Man believes the Black Atom to be dead, but his body isn't visible.
