Synopsis for The Clock Strikes!: "5th Ave. Jewel Dealer Robbed of Fortune"

Corrupt night watchman Joe Taff participates in a jewelry store robbery. The next day, Carteer the jeweler visits Police Captain Kane, demands action, admits the stolen uncut diamonds are insured, and generally behaves like a blustering jackass. At the same time, in his hidden lair, reading about the robbery in a newspaper, the Clock figures out that the watchman was in on the robbery.

That night he visits the jewelry story, nabs Taff, and whisks him away to his secret base, where he's got a torture chamber. Taff squeals on his accomplices; Clock locks him in a cell, then goes to visit them. That visit seems to go badly for the Clock when the robbers get the drop on him, but three of them stupidly step out of the room, and the Clock knocks out the fourth with his trick walking stick, then uses his pistol to corner the other three.

Clock turns the crooks over to Captain Kane, keeps the diamonds, converts them to cash, and distributes it among some poor people. He anticipates that Captain Kane will have trouble from the jeweler, Carteer, but claims to have evidence that Carteer is a former smuggler, who should just accept the insurance settlement and keep quiet. Kane reads all this in a lengthy note from the Clock, then burns the note.
