Synopsis for "The Fortune Plague"
Superman stops a man from robbing a woman of all her lottery tickets. As a thank you, she insists Superman take one ticket, which he promptly gives to a coworker at the Daily Planet.
He and Lois bump into each other and the two awkwardly say hello. They struggle to speak, due to their engagement recently falling apart,[1] and Lois leaves the scene after saying bye to him. Everyone gathers around the television to hear the lottery numbers, only to discover they all heard their own number be called. Chaos and riots break out all across Metropolis. Lois tells Clark she'll cover for him to suit up, even though they're not on speaking terms at the moment.
Things get worse when massive coins on a billboard advertising the lottery rain down on the streets below. All across Metropolis, people's wildest dreams start coming true in increasingly dangerous ways. Jimmy Olsen has to fend off beautiful women who claim to be in love with him. A young couple's new apartment grows legs and starts walking across town to gain a better view. Superman's fears regarding the culprit are confirmed when he finds Mr. Mxyzptlk waiting for him in his home.
