Synopsis for Green Lantern: "The Beloved Bandit"

Green Lantern captures infamous gangster Cleve Klang, but when Klang comes up for trial, everyone declares their adoration for the criminal and he's set free, to his own confusion as much as Green Lantern's. Doiby even happily drives Klang away from his new adoring fans. When Green Lantern comes looking for Klang, he finds a letter the crook dropped, of an ancient Babylonian amulet recently discovered that Klang stole from its proper owner. The amulet has the magic power to make anyone who sees its owner love them, and even Green Lantern's ensorcelled. But when Klang tries to rob a bank, Green Lantern's conscience overpowers the amulet and he uses his ring to set off the alarm, but is knocked out when a wooden shelf falls on him. After more chaos, Green Lantern catches up to Klang again, and realizes that since the amulet's a magnet, its polarity can be reversed. He fires his ring at it, causing everyone who sees Klang to hate him. Klang willingly goes to jail and throws the reversed love magnet away before it causes him anymore trouble. It lands outside a pet store and makes two lovebirds attack each other.

A blazing light suddenly covers the sky at 3 AM, providing a distraction as an archvillain calling himself Dr. Light takes advantage of the distraction this causes to melt through a factory safe with a heat ray he's also invented. The strange light's even awakened Dr. McNider, who suits up and tracks down the villain, but Dr. Light gets away when Mid-Nite twists his ankle on the villain's fallen flashlight.

While walking to take a lecture, Dr. McNider sees a strange light coming up from a hot air vent in the vault in the bank. He suits up again and intervenes, interrupting Dr. Light as he tries to make his escape with the haul from blinding the guards in the vault with another of his devices. Dr. Mid-Nite gets the upper hand by countering the villain's light weapons with his darkness bombs. In prison, Dr. Light's annoyed by having a cellmate who always stays up late reading, keeping Light awake with the brilliance of his reading lamp.
