Synopsis for Green Lantern: "The Long Lost Son"
Lawyer Elias Strake puts forward a plot to several friends to take advantage of the Blake family. Their young son, who went missing eleven years ago, bears a marked resemblance to one of Strake's men, Cub Brenner. Deceiving the family with this imposter, they plan to steal $100,000 and leave the country. Strake brings Tommy Blake home to his parents, and the Blake family take in their "son" with open arms. Cub, however, appears to have a change of heart when he sees how ecstatic they are over his return.
At the Apex Broadcasting System, Irene Miller and Alan Scott discuss the homecoming of Tommy Blake. Later that night, Alan questions the motives of Strake, known to have a bad reputation. He transforms into the Green Lantern and flies to the Blake home. He sees "Tommy" leave the house and follows him to Strake's law office. As Cub gives his report, Alan bursts into the room and fights the criminals. He gives an ultimatum: he will return at 9:00 the following night and expects them to be long gone. The thugs decide to speed up their plan and also construct a time bomb surprise for Green Lantern when he returns.
GL returns the next night and checks the office with his ring, discovering the bomb. He leaps out of the window but the concussive force knocks him unconscious. At the Blake home, Strake and his men are attempting to crack the safe. Cub has sent his "parents" to the movies, but they unexpectedly appear in the middle of the heist. Mr. Blake is shot, and, when Cub protests, Strake punches him in the face. Awakening on the street and dazed by the blast, Green Lantern finds he has briefly lost his supernatural abilities and sprints to the Blake home. Mr. Blake is only wounded, and Mrs. Blake tells Green Lantern that Tommy ran out the door, chasing the thieves.
Regaining his powers after he recovers from the mental haze from the bomb-blast, Green Lantern finds Cub attempting suicide by driving his car off a cliff. Alan saves Cub and convinces him to help find Strake and his men. The duo arrive just as Strake kills his partner to keep all the money for himself. They subdue him and take him to the police. His partner's confession puts Strake behind bars, and the Blakes refuse to prosecute Cub. They reveal that Cub is really Tommy Blake and not an imposter after all. Green Lantern flies away, and, the next day, discusses the case with Irene.
