Angel Love was a comic book series created by Barbara Slate about a young red-headed woman named Angel Love who works as a roller-skating waitress in a New York City restaurant, looking for love and also looking to get a break as an aspiring cartoonist. Shes lives in an apartment with her roommate Wendy Thornball, who aspires to be a famous actress just like her mother. Throughout the series, Angel deals with a man she's dating who has a cocaine habit, her best friend and co-worker getting pregnant and deciding on whether to have an abortion or not, her mother in Scranton, Pennsylvania dying, and her sister posing herself as somebody else, trying to hide a family secret even from Angel. It mixes it all with light humor and a bit of cute fantasy elements, such as a fairy godmother-type character that comes to life when Angel draws her. Despite its look, the series was intended for mature audiences. The series ran for eight issues, then was followed by a special that wrapped up things following the cliffhanger ending of #8.
