the Avalanche King src

The Avalanche King was an enemy of the Blackhawk Squadron.

Ramon Vicaro was born in South America, and excelled in his studies at school, overcoming great poverty to become a respected seismologist in his native land. As an adult, he married a woman (whose name has not been made public) and fathered a daughter, named Maria. Shortly after Maria Vicaro was born, however, an unspecified tragedy befell her mother, who died. This tragedy apparently caused Dr. Vicaro such grief that he turned away from supporting his country's government and embraced Communism, agreeing to work for agents of Iron Curtain countries to help de-stabilize his homeland. In late 1956 he disappeared from Buenos Aires, just minutes ahead of the Argentine Police.

Shortly later, using ordinary explosives, very strategically placed, Vicaro began triggering avalanches in the Andes, wiping out factories and defense installations. Using his expertise in seismology and geology to select and destroy his targets, "the Avalanche King" inflicted severe damage to the commerce, industry, and defense capabilities of Chile, Bolivia, and Peru, along the full length of the Andes range.

Upon learning of this, and suspecting a Communist plot, a colonel from an unidentified government asked the Blackhawks to investigate. The Blackhawks were able to determine that Vicaro was the one behind the sabotage, and captured him with help from his own daughter Maria, who was sickened by her father's acts. Vicaro was brought up on charges of treason and sabotage, and given a life prison term.
