Synopsis for "10,000 Clowns: Dark City"

At the blacked-out hospital, the Joker King has arrived to kill his family. The hospitallized Bruce Wayne attacks him, but he starts to black out, and the Joker King throws him out of the room. Desperate, Wayne hacks the wireless in the nurse's station to broadcast to Batman's mic, but he blacks out again...

In the center of the chaos, Batman, Vigilante, Catwoman and Dick Grayson are doing their best to keep the city safe. They split up to handle hot spots. Batman puts in a call to "Mr D", who is trying to defuse the bombs centrally with the array that Batman found. Batman gets the call from hospital and rushes there.

At the Cross-Central Transit Hub, Catwoman and Dick Grayson face the Jokerz duo known as Dee Dee. When Grayson fails to talk them down, they try to activate their bomb-vests... only to discover that Drake managed to deactivate the triggers. Making short work of the villains, Grayson and Catwoman leave, hinting at a possible physical liaison.

At the hospital, the Joker King decides to explain events to his family. As a child he was enamoured with the Joker, the one person who scared the Batman. His parents, worried, got rid of his paraphenalia, but this pushed him further. He joined a Jokerz set, but was disappointed by the tame antics of the gang, which mostly boiled down to scaring passers-by, petty vandalism and turf squabbles. Eventually, he went to prison, where he had nothing to do but think: if the Joker was a symbol rather than a man, what was he a symbol of, and what could his namesake gang become?

He had other Jokerz to argue with in prison, and they spread his argument when they got out. Pretty soon, they began calling him the Joker King. Now, he is enacting his vision of anarvchy and clown-based terror. But this hospital will be untouched as he destroys his family for the crime of forgetting him. As Dana volunteers to go first, the Joker King is ambushed by Batman. Pushing the fight into the hall, Batman tells Bruce Wayne to get the Tans to safety. The Joker King gets off a shot from his special pistol, which makes it difficult for Batman's head to clear. The Joker King takes advantage of the lull to shoot Batman in the side of the head.

Outside the hospital, medics deal with Wayne and the Tans, as Dana realises that Batman knew her name.

On a Gotham rooftop, Vigilante, Catwoman and Dick Grayson reunite. Vigilante points out that Batman is sidetracked and that they have work to do tracking down the Jokerz before they run off. Grayson has a bad experience of what that might mean for Batman.

Batman comes to at a construction site. Still groggy, he tries to beat the Joker King, but fails. The villain drags him up a flight of stairs, and as Grayson struggles to make radio contact, announces that he will cap his night of success by doing wha the original Joker never could - kill the Batman!

Synopsis for the 2nd Story

A bedtime story on the planet Trillia: For millenia, Trillian civilization expanded ever outward, enlisting the primitive Mangals in their enlightened mach to unnivrsal peace. But one day, a monster fell from the sky. The monster turned the Mangals into feral revoluionaries, and Trillia burned. Even toay, decades later, the planet is scarred.

Today, tthe fathr telling the story has been selected fo a mission of righteous justice against the monster. The son asks his father if he is afraid, and the father replies that when he leaves, the son becomes the man of the house, and men oe each other truth in all things: the father is afraid, but it mst be done.

A few days later, in Metropolis, Superman investigates a new fusion plant that has been hiccuping lately. He is ambushed by a Trillian commando squad. He fights back until one of the commandos uses the plant to shoot Superman with an arc of energy. Superman touches the device he is using, completing the circuit. However, the plant goes haywire and Superman gets the commandos out of the area. Afterwards, the commandos try to fight Superman some more, but when they discover he is immune to their guns, they teleport away, leaving Superman perplexed.

At the ship the Trillians are using, the leader steps outside to make a phonecall to a mercenary. He admits that Superman was powerful than they expected, and offers to pay the mercenaruy to do it. The mercenary - Lobo - agrees...

Synopsis for "Beyond Origin: Barda"

Once upon a time on Apokolips, there were two little girls amog the Lowlie caste. Best friends, they were recruited into the armies of Darkseid, and for their service they ecieved thei names. One was assigned to trai the giant dogs of war, and was named "Goodness". The other, showing their skill as a warrior, was selected to be the mother of the next generation of warriors, and was named "Big Breeda".

However, during her time on the battlefield, Breeda fell in love with an unapproved warrior, and bore his child. The hour of birth was marked by a rising of the Dreggs, the undead Old Gods of the Third World. Breeda was on the front lines at the time, and so she named the child with the old word for one born on a battlefield - a "Barda".

But the child had been hidden from everyone, and Goodness viewed this as a betrayal. In revenge, she vowed to aise the child herself and slew Big Breeda. Years passed, and Big Barda became a lieutenant of the Female Furies. There she met the prisoner who infuriated Granny Goodness the most: Scott Free. Entranced by the prisoner's smile, she helped him escaped, eloped and married him. Welcomed into this new family, she moved to Earth with her husband and had many adventures.

Years later, her husband returned home while she stayed on Earth as an ambassador. When disguised parademons armed with New Genesis hardware attacked Earth, killing millions, her arguments of peace went unheeded i favour of the nuclear option. Highfather of New Genesis told Earth that this had failed, and so a treaty was signed: all Mother Boxes were handed and put beyond use, by Apokolips, New Genesis and Earth. The Fourth World placed a barrier between it and Earth. And Barda was exiled to Earth, as a symbol of the New Gods' sacrifice.

Now an ambassador without a country, a wife without her husband, Barda fights to protect Earth in the JLU. A lesser woman might have declined. But she is her mother's daughter.
