Batman and Robin #9 is an issue of the series Batman and Robin (Volume 1) with a cover date of April, 2010. It was published on February 24, 2010.

Synopsis for "Blackest Knight, Part Three: Broken"

Batman tells Knight and Squire that Batwoman died of an intentional morphine overdose, expecting that they would be able to dig out of the collapsed mine and place her in the Lazarus Pit. As they dig Batman tells the others that the body they placed in the Lazarus Pit wasn't the original Batman's, but he was enough like him that the current Batman believes the resurrected figure will try to return to Gotham City.

Batman submerses Batwoman in the Lazarus Pit, and she is successfully resurrected. The vigilantes are met on their way out by Jacob Kane, whom Batwoman awkwardly introduces as her "military P.O.C." He offers Batman a ride back to Gotham and wonders what Batwoman has gotten herself into this time.

In Gotham, Damian realizes the copy isn't Bruce Wayne, and with Alfred's assistance, he tricks the copy into stepping on a pool of gasoline and electrocutes him. The copy survives, however, and evades Alfred's attempt to hit him with a cricket bat. He dangles Damian over the edge of the roof, and when Damian spits in his eye, drops him. Damian is caught just in time by Batman, who returns him to the roof while Batwoman attacks the copy. The copy mistakes her for Kathy Kane and threatens to eat her heart. Batman and Batwoman fight the copy together, but notice he is falling apart. Batman knows this isn't an affect of the Lazarus Pit and asks what he is; the copy claims he is what "you will be."

Damian knocks the copy down from behind and asks Pennyworth who all these people are. Batwoman realizes they are on the roof of Wayne Tower and wonders what the copy wanted with Bruce Wayne. Batman claims he has no idea but the Justice League will figure it out. He notices that the coven got their sacrifice and a mad black knight, and he wonders if the prophecy is true and there will be a new age of crime. Batwoman retorts, "New age of crime, meet new age of crime-fighter."

In England Knight and Squire arrest King Coal, but in Gotham, Dick defends his choice to resurrect Bruce Wayne without informing Damian and Alfred after he had previously cautioned against using Lazarus Pits to resurrect dead loved ones. He concludes that because the body wasn't Bruce's in the end, that means Bruce Wayne is still alive and they have to find him.
