The Beetle was an agent of Imperial Japan during World War II. His operations in the US were stopped by the Spy Smasher.

History

The anonymous enemy agent now known only as "The Beetle" was an ingenious engineer, who developed a miniaturized flying robot drone, equipped with television and audio gear, and a hypodermic stinger. These were small enough to be disguised as flying insects. He used these devices for espionage against the U.S. military, during WWII, and after a brief series of successful operations, he encountered the famous Spy Smasher, who captured one of his flying bugs, took it apart and put it back together, and used it it track down its own inventor. After a few fistfights and near-escapes, the Beetle was defeated and turned over to U.S. Navy authorities.
