Black Adam is a supervillain and sometimes anti-hero originally created as the evil counterpart to Captain Marvel, also known as Shazam.

In the New Earth continuity, Teth-Adam was an ancient Egyptian prince who was given incredible powers by the Wizard and survived into the modern era. His legacy would eventually expand to include the Black Marvel Family involving his wife Isis and her brother Osiris protecting their native land of Kahndaq. In the Prime Earth continuity, Teth-Adam was a Kahndaqi slave who received the powers of Shazam. He has been a member of the Justice Society, Injustice Society, Secret Society of Super-Villains, Monster Society of Evil, Legion of Doom, Injustice League, Justice League and the Council of Immortals.

Black Adam was created by Otto Binder and C.C. Beck, first appearing in Marvel Family #1. (1945)
