Synopsis for "The Dance of Capoeira"

Depressed after the drama with Oliver Queen in Green Arrow (Volume 2) #75, Dinah's friend Gan decides she needs a good time out with a girlfriend and recruits Daryl Estado for the job - or at least that's what Dinah thinks. After she changes into costume in the bathroom to catch a pickpocket, a fight breaks out when the capoeira dancer on stages murders one of the audience members. As it turns out, Daryl is an FBI agent who Gan convinced to recruit Dinah to help capture Capoeira, despite departmental policy forbidding it. Though upset over Dinah's "one woman Rambette band" act, she and her partner Rischa brief Canary on Valdez, his backstory showing in a flashback. Originally a migrant worker, he has been killing landowners, which is implied to be in vengeance for an unspecified wrong. His signature is a hand-shaped burn to the chest; originally made of a chemical-burn post-mortem, it appears he is now using some kind of electrified glove as a murder weapon.

Using a tracker slipped into Valdez's pocket, they attempt to track him, but Dinah finds the tracker abandoned in the back of a van. Luckily, just then a fire engine roars by, and they are able to follow it to a house fire that Capoeira has apparently set. They split up, Canary racing into the flames to check for survivors. A woman throws her baby to Dinah out a second story window, but, after catching it, Dinah finds he's already dead.

Meanwhile, Gan has come across Valdez, and been blasted in the chest by the killer's glove. Agents Estado and Leyendecker attempt to come to his aid, but only manage to wing Valdez, while Valdez pins Rischa's wrist with a throwing knife. Black Canary then appears, and in the course of the fight, manages to dump a drain pipe full of water on the killer, shorting out his battery pack. Thinking it would only stun him, she is dismayed to find the shock kills him instead.
