Captain Squidd src

Captain Squidd was a pirate, using technologically advanced weapons and vehicles.

In 1948, Captain Squidd and his giant submarine, the "Cuttlefish," plundered commercial shipping in the Pacific Ocean, looting and destroying a series of ships. Squidd would position the Cuttlefish under the targeted vessel, and ram the ship from below, using a huge hydraulic ram mounted atop the submarine. This ram was hollow, and served as a conduit for boarding parties of pirates to swarm into the lower decks. Typically officers were murdered and crews were abducted, always the hull-breached victim vessels would sink. Other vessels would be dismantled at sea by a pair of enormous mechanical pincers on the Cuttlefish's bow.

Squidd attacked a tramp steamer bound for Blackhawk Island, and in return was attacked by Blackhawk, flying and diving in an experimental type of submersible jet warplane. The diving jet was armed with oxy-acetylene blowtorches, and this was what detonated the Cuttlefish's fuel supply, explosively destroying the submarine and killing Captain Squidd.
