History

The school is comprised of five main buildings, two of which are dormitories. The middle building houses the chemistry laboratories and gymnasium, complete with an Olympic-sized swimming pool.

Many years ago, the Cardy Boarding School became the sight of superhuman intrigue when one of its students, Jarrod Jupiter, embarked upon a grandiose plot against his absentee father, Loren Jupiter. Feeling as if his father neglected him in favor of supervising the neophyte Teen Titans, Jarrod decided to avenge himself against Loren by destroying the young heroes. In order to bait them into a trap, Jarrod kidnapped several students, then placed an S.O.S. call to the Titans, knowing that they would come to Maine to investigate. The plan worked and the Teen Titans showed up to investigate the disappearances. Using a psychotropic gel, Jarrod Jupiter assumed the costumed alias of Haze and made the Titans believe that they were fighting their mentors. The Titans eventually saw through the illusions and confronted Jarrod on a slippery peak just outside the campus grounds. When they tried to apprehend him though, Jarrod slipped on the rocks and fell into the ocean, presumably to his death. Loren Jupiter didn't want the Titans to endure the anguish of failure, so he had the team's resident telepath, Lilith Clay, hypnotize them into forgetting the entire affair.

At some indeterminate point in the future, the school was shut down. The circumstances behind this have yet to be revealed.

Years later, four of the original Titans, Nightwing, Arsenal, Flash and Tempest returned to the Cardy Boarding School when they received news that Loren Jupiter had been kidnapped. Investigating the abandoned facility, they began to experience another series of psychotropic illusions, and it appeared as if Jarrod Jupiter was alive and well and up to his old tricks. During this escapade, the Titans discovered their old Titans Helicopter as well as the bound and gagged body of Loren's colleague, Neil Richards (formerly known as the Mad Mod). Nightwing deduced that it was the strange, green mist surrounding the building that was producing the strange visions. This incident also reversed Lilith's original hypnotic command, and the Titans recalled their memories of the original mission.
