Synopsis for "Shattered"
Overnight, one in 12 human beings fell into a coma spontaneously. Every victim was a Scorpio—born between October 23 and November 21. When Kenn mentions this, Clay's skepticism causes the two to have an argument. One of them is Kenn's daughter Danni, whom he goes to visit. His ex-wife Sue is offended but allows him to say goodbye before forcing him to leave. While in her bedroom, he suddenly receives a message from the universe that topaz—Scorpios' birthstone—will cure the affliction.
Brenda is willing to believe him and arranges for topaz to be sent to 400 million comatose individuals. Marlon flies the rest of the Challengers to meet Kenn in the Utah desert, on top of a mammoth topaz deposit he hopes to use as a kind of battery. The group holds hands in a circle and as they do, the comas all end as quickly as they began but an apparition flies out from their circle and disappears in the distance.
