Synopsis for "Heroes Interrupted"

For the first time in a year, Ralph Dibny has got his abilities as the Elongated Man back. After a dome appeared around Gotham City and blocked every super-human's abilities, it finally fell this morning, and Ralph couldn't be happier. However, He and his wife Sue are nervous about the fact that the entity who removed the dome warned that a battle would be coming. Sue had made him stay at home for breakfast at least, and she can't help but feel a pit growing in her stomach as he finishes up and leaves to join the Justice League Detroit - in whom she has little confidence.

Sue and Ralph had spent the last year consulting for the Gotham City Police Department, but each member had found their own way of keeping occupied without powers. Vixen had worked in an animal shelter, Steel's cybernetic systems shut down and rendered him paralyzed and on life support for months, Vibe complained, only able to pass time at a job at Big Belly Burger. Unfortunately, being occupied with those tasks kept them out of practice. In the meantime, Ralph hopes the League's three heavy-hitters will be able to figure out what's going on, in the grand scheme of things.

Having both been called there by the Martian Manhunter, Aquaman and Gypsy meet him at the borders of the city, near the Sprang Bridge. He explains that he suspects that if there are invaders coming, they will come from outside the city limits - though he has no telepathic inkling of anyone nearby. Using his powers, he searches the city for anyone who might be a threat - and finds nothing. Worriedly, Aquaman asks if J'onn can check with Zatanna, to see what she can see. She responds that she senses no incursions on the Ectotheric Plane. Suddenly, she is knocked off of her feet by a real world explosion. Turning their heads, J'onn pinpoints the site as the warehouse where Ralph and the rest of the League had been training.

Rushing to the rubble, where Sue is already worriedly watching and waiting, the four Leaguers sift through the debris to find a small candy-striped box with a button and a warning not to touch that button. Needing to satisfy their curiosity about it, Zatanna presses it. The device causes the team to apparently fade in and out of reality, and disappear. In their place, now stand the Secret Six of another reality, and they plan on defeating the League.

Fortunately, the phasing was a part of Zatanna's protective magic, and they are safely away, but needed in order to protect civilians from these invaders. The police lay down some gunfire to hold the Secret Six back, as the debris beneath their feet suddenly begins to shift. Grinning, Sue realizes that her loved ones have not died yet, as they rise up from the rubble and offer their challenge.
