Notes

  • "From Eternia -- With Death!" was reprinted in DC Universe vs. The Masters of the Universe and Showcase Presents: DC Comics Presents Superman Team-Ups Vol. 2.
  • This is the Masters of Universe's first appearance in a regular, DC, comic book (The action figures included mini-comic books).
  • This is the first appearance of He-Man as Prince Adam; In this point of time, the animated cartoon had not been aired; What existed up until this point in time were comics enclosed with action figures from Mattel's Masters of the Universe toyline, in which He-man was described as having no secret identity.
  • In this issue, Prince Adam shows great strength (twisting a barbell into a pretzel in front of Teela) and as He-man he thinks "the identity of Prince Adam must be protected" so he still has the dual identity though it is not clear how much the transformation boosts his strength. Unlike his cartoon counterpart this He-man wields a double bladed two handed axe.
  • Skeletor is based in the original mini-comic books; In that background, the villain had a similar twin sword to He-Man though they were actually two parts of a single "Power Sword" (similar to the concept of the 1981 Blackstar series). The other part was "secreted elsewhere on this miserable world".
  • It is mentioned that Adam is the son of the king of Eternia and his wife who was a Terran astronaut, but the names Randor and Marlena are not mentioned. It is the first evidence of the existence of these characters.
  • Man-at-Arms have no mustache.

Trivia

  • The title "From Eternia -- With Death!" is a pun on From Russia With Love, a James Bond novel written by Ian Fleming.
