Darkstars #8 is an issue of the series Darkstars (Volume 1) with a cover date of May, 1993.

Synopsis for "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys!"

Carla White takes Ferrin Colos to a Western-themed bar and buys him some clothes to blend in. In their absence, Annie Bonelli answers to the Darkstars' classified advertisement and offers as office manager. Despite the technology being alien to her, she learns how to operate the computers in no time.

At the Texan bar, Colos and Carla talk about the racial segregation on Earth, something that doesn't make sense to Ferrin because he has never seen anything like it on other planets. After a misunderstanding with another client at the bar, Colos tries the mechanical bull and breaks it.

Meanwhile, the mercenary K'lassh finds Colos' ship stationed in space and blows it up. Annie notices that they lost their uplink, and Mo notifies Colos, who dismisses it as a minor hardware malfunction. However, K'lassh traces the communication and teleports to Earth to confront the Darkstar on Texas.
